Kaunas
Kaunas charmed me with its ease and affordable price level. I booked my tours many months ago at an affordable price, only 14 euros for a round trip. I stayed at a hotel called HOF, which is located right next to the old town of Kaunas. My trip was only three days long but was a really good time to get to know the history and culture of the city. I also went for shopping a mall called Acropolis. The most amazing attraction during my trip was the Kaunas Castle. Too bad I couldn't get inside the castle for some reason. However, from the outside, the castle looked really beautiful, and I walked around mainly admiring the way the castle was built. Near the Kaunas Castle there is also a beautiful, Kauno Šv. Jurgio Kankinio Catholic church, which was also allowed for visitors.
The second church I visited was called Šv. Arkangelo Mykolo bažnyčia (Church of St. Michael the Archangel). St. Michael the Archangel's Church was beautiful on the inside and when I went inside the church, there was apparently a Friday afternoon mass starting there. Locals, especially older people, came to the church in large numbers to hear the devotions. Kaunas is also the European Union's cultural capital for 2022. It was visible as a street art and various installations, really modern art I would say. The artworks along the streets combined mobility, music and colorful lights. I can recommend Kaunas especially if you want a small break from everyday life. I don't know what Kaunas looks like in the wintertime, but August was a really favorable time to travel.
See you <3
