Life in Latin America and Caribbean

22/01/2022

The next time the world called me was in spring 2015.I came back to Finland in autumn 2014,but I couldn't stand still. From the early winter of 2015, I applied for an internship with the support of the International Center for Internationality (CIMO) in Curitiba, southern Brazil. They were offered an internship in an immigration-focused NGO called Casa Latino Americana (CASLA). I applied for a place and got to pack my backpack for a new adventure. Once again, I said goodbye to Finland on May Day (in Finnish Vappu) 2015, when others were squealing their sparkling wine glasses. However, I knew that for myself this journey was once again a dream come true even without sparkling wine. Brazil also took my heart and I fell in love with the country and people more than I could have imagined. I travelled to Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis and, of course, got to know the city of Curitiba.I returned to Finland in the end of lsummer 2015.

In August 2018, I travelled to Jamaica and Mexico for a month. This trip was also a long-term dream for which I had been saving money for several years. So, there wasn't much money going on in itself (thanks to my savings tips), but the collection of money consisted of small streams. I didn't regret for a second that I spent my savings on this trip because overall it was fantastic. It was amazing to be able to experience and see Jamaica and, above all, the birthplace of the king of reggae music, Bob Marley. In Jamaica, I spent most of my time in the Montego Bay area, but I also travelled to Negril and Kingston. From Jamaica, I spurted to Mexico, the city of Cancun. My intention was to spend about four days in Cancún and surrounding areas, but I decided to stay for more than a week because Mexico was amazing with big A. I met great people and I experienced more than I expected. I was annoyed because the week went fast. However, I experienced the wonders of the Yucatan Peninsula, including a day of trips to the beach town of Playa del Carmen and the Maya ruins of Tulum. Unforgettable experiences, you can read more about on these blogs:
